Mel is currently the host of Manor Mill poetry events in Monkton, MD and runs their monthly reading series and open mic.

She also and co-hosts, with Michael Fallon, a monthly library workshop at the Hereford branch of Baltimore County Public Library which is connected to the open mic at Manor Mill. Poetry workshopped within the small group at the library often goes on to be read at the open mics, and sometimes to be published.

Mel is also editor of the anthology Poets of Manor Mill (available online and in stores upon request) the second volume of which is due to be published with Salt Water Media in September 2026.
