Mel is currently the host of Manor Mill poetry events in Monkton, MD and runs their monthly reading series and open mic.

She also facilitates, with Michael Fallon, a monthly library workshop at the Hereford branch of Baltimore County Public Library called “Get Your Poetry On” which collaborates with the open mic at Manor Mill. Poetry developed within this small group often goes on to be read at the open mics, and sometimes to be published.

Mel is the editor of the anthology Poets of Manor Mill (available online and in stores upon request) which celebrates the work of open mic participants and featured poets. See Books section for details about the first volume. The second volume is due to be published with Salt Water Media in September 2026.
